Legoland Malaysia

Legoland Malaysia is a great place for a day trip, especially for families with younger children. It is a big theme park made up of the famous building blocks, with fun rides like roller coasters, trains, boats and cafes and restaurants. There is even a Mini Land filled with miniature icons of the various Asian countries, as well as an activitiy room where one can build the bricks from scratch.

Legoland is normally part of a package tour, that may include a night's stay, or a two-way coach transfer. However, for a day trip on your own without a package, there is a Causewaylink bus from Jurong East Interchange which will drop directly in front of Legoland. After you are done for the day, you can just take the same bus back.

Of course, for a package, the entrance fees to Legoland will be included. The entrance fees includes all the rides and activities, excluding food and beverages. For a day trip on your own, you may need to fork out for the admission tickets at the entrance itself.

Legoland is situated behind a small mall called Mall of Medina. The mall has food and beverages outlets, small shops for local produce and toiletries, and souvenirs. After going by the stretch of the mall, that is where the entrance to Legoland start. However, once you exit from Legoland, you cannot get back in unless you get the wrist strap from the Guest Services counter, which happens to be inside Legoland. So it would be a good idea to explore the mall after exiting from Legoland and you are sure you do not want to go back in again.

Legoland opens at ten in the morning everyday. I reached there around quarter to ten and had to wait in the queue. Luckily I already have the ticket so need not queue up to buy, and the moment the place opens, I could just go in.

After going in, it was a row of gift shops and cafes. The first attraction is the Project X roller coaster, which I did not go, so I went to the roundabout bumper cars next to the roller coaster.

Next I passed by a Lego Academy for kids, with a lego-constructed Albert Einstein in front.

After this, I dropped by my favourite attraction - Mini Land! I spent the most time here as I was so fascinated at the miniature buildings made entirely of Lego! Furthermore, the vehicles made of Lego actually do move to give a more realistic view!

Mini Land starts off with icons of Malaysia :

Can you believe this Petronas Twin Towers is made of Lego?

One of the airports. The airplanes are also made of Lego

 So is the port.

Mini Singapore comes next.

 The Flyer

 Cavenagh Bridge in Raffles Placa

 Fullerton and Merlion

The 3 oldest bank buildings - Standard Chartered Bank, Bank of China and Maybank

Esplanade Walk in front of One Fullerton

 Boat Quay area

There is even an exact replica of my favourite pub in Boat Quay!

The other Asian countries follow next, as can be seen in the next few photos :

 Taj Mahal of India

 Forbidden Palace of Beijing

And the Great Wall of China

 Angkor Wat, Cambodia

 Streets of Vietnam

Thailand

Sultan Mosque in Brunei

 Patuxai in Laos

There is even a mini spewing volcano!

After coming out from Mini Land (and loving every part of it), I went on to the "city centre" where there is a train station, a fire station, a cinema, even an airport.

 The Legoland Express Railway Station

 The cinema

The Rescue Academy (fire trucks and police trucks)

The Airport (where kids could fly and airplane)

I took the Legoland Express train ride around the area, going via Mini Land, the two roller coasters and even the Land of Adventure.

After the train ride, I decided to go on to the Land of Adventure, where there is a dark tunnel for people to shoot targets, a bouncy sky platform, and a water roller coaster. The Land of Adventure is also constructed like the Egyptian era and the Jurassic era.

The bouncy sky platform on both sides. People sit in a row, the platform will be raised and then would suddenly drop and be lifted a few times.

Cafe where I had a drink

If you want to venture into the water roller coaster and then get spewed out from the dinosaur's mouth, bear in mind that you will get wet. So it would be a good idea to bring along a change of clothing. In any case, there are a couple of drying booths outside the place, so you can dry yourself off too.

After the Land of Adventure, I went to a section where there are musical instruments made of Lego, a 4D Movie Experience, a Lego-constructing activity, a construction workers ride, and a tower ride, before stopping at the pizza cafe for lunch.

Musical instruments made of Lego. There are actually music coming out from here.

Entrance of the 4D Movie Experience

The 4D movie theatre is shaped like an actual movie theatre, with 3D glasses. What makes this experience unique, although not new, is that their special effects are real. So when rain appeared on the screen, there is actually rain in the theatre for us to experience. When there is snow, there will also be snow falling. Besides, the graphics are so real you feel as if the images are right in your face!

I went to the Tower next. For those who have taken the Tiger tower in Sentosa, you will know that this Tower is the same, you sit down in a booth, the booth goes up and then the booth will rotate three hundred and sixty degrees while making its way down gradually. From there, one can see a panoramic view of Legoland and its surroundings.

Views from top of the Tower

View of the Dragon Roller Coaster, which I did not take as well

I went to construct Lego next. There are bits and pieces of loose bricks in the room, but I was not able to construct any since I have forgotten how to make the bricks from scratch!

After coming out of the Lego making room, I wanted to see what the Construction Ride is about. Seems that people sit down and then pull their way up using the ropes given, much like a construction worker. However I did not take the ride as they need one adult and a child per seat. So I went to the pizza restaurant for lunch.

 Construction Ride

Lunch of aglio olio with a soup and drink, comes in a set. Taste was not bad!

After that, I ventured over to the Boating School and tried a boat ride. The boats had to make twists and turns in a lake, so we had to know how to control the boat and not let it turn aronud too much, much like driving a car.

Finally, I went back to the front and took the water spout ride. How this works is that you step into one of the machines, then it will go round and round, and water will spout out from the side and you have to balance yourself while the machines go round faster and faster, yet at the same time avoid being hit by the water. This is one of the more exciting rides of the day!

After this, I went to the gift shop and bought some souvenirs, then went out to the mall and wandered around a while before taking the shuttle back to the hotel. It had been a really enjoyable day at Legoland! I will really recommend this for a day trip especially those with young children, but there is no need for an Annual Pass.
