Sea Of Galilee And Surrounds

The Sea of Galilee was the place where Jesus found Peter and told him to cast away his net and became "fisher of men" instead. It was also one of the places Jesus crossed to go around the region to preach to others.

On the second day of our Israel tour, we went from Tiberias, one of the docks for the Sea of Galilee, and took a boat to the other side. There are religious sites and mountains all around the Sea of Galilee, like the Mount of Beatitudes, Church of St Peter, as well as some other historical places.

We started the day with a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee. The boat belongs to an Israeli Christian, so he not only steered the boat, he also sang gospel songs for us! What a good deal! What I am really impressed is when we went onto the boat, he rose the Singapore flag, and played our National Anthem! That is really great!

And what is on the opposite shore? The Ancient Boat Museum, for one, where remnants of a preserved second century fishing boat is on display. We spent around half an hour exploring the museum.

After this, we spent the rest of the day exploring the religious sites that Jesus went to, but that will be covered in the next post!
