Redang Reef Resort

We stayed in Redang Reef Resort during a recent trip to Redang. This is a cosy resort on its own, with rooms ranging from twin to triple to quad, facing the beach front and back, and two dining areas of its own. The resort also offers great snorkelling packages for a three-day, two-night stay. Of course, it is not of the standard of the posh Laguna Redang Resort, but it is still a nice place to stay.

Redang Reef Resort is situated on a little hillock on the rocks, next to Laguna Redang Resort. There are stairs and then a plank walk to reach the resort.

I like the wordings on the bench in front of the resort!

There are two dining areas, one for breakfast, lunch and tea, and the other is for dinner, which also has an alfresco area by the sea.

The bar plays nice music every night, but we went to Laguna Resort to enjoy the drinks and live band playing there.

These are the rooms, or part of them at least.

We stayed in a twin room, with ensuite bathroom. But the facilities are rather minimal, ie two beds, a small table, a dressing table with mirror, and bathroom. However, the bathroom smells funny (as in there are traces of cement), the airconditioning is not very cold, and switches itself off as and when, and there are no toiletries given. I believe we had to request for towels. Even the longhouse cabin I stayed in Mulu provides tea, coffee, a flask, soap and towels in every room!

For those who are interested, there is a snorkelling schedule and package in every room.

The back of the resort opens up to another beach. There is a small pavilion and hammocks, which I spent some time lying down and relaxing in.

One thing good is that all meals are provided. So I do not need to fork out extra for food. I guess the package should be the same for every resort in Redang. Hence we got our breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner all covered! The food is buffet style, and there is different food everyday.

Redang Reef Resort is a good place to stay as the packages are normally all inclusive. However, the wifi and internet access is really bad. The reception goes on and off as and when and there is hardly any network. I am not sure if this is only at this resort or the problem is with the whole island.

Furthermore, the water pressure in the bathroom is really low. I took a very long time showering on the second day, as the water came down in droplets. After being out at sea, it became a hassle trying to wash my hair because the water was so little!

If I am to go back to Redang, maybe I will stay at Laguna Resort instead, just to see how it is like. Lagnua Resort has its own live band at night, and there are also beach huts by the beach for people to just lounge around in, which I find so cool!

  2. Hi Finn

    Thanks for dropping by! :-)

I guess Bangkok is a much easier place to go to as compared to Redang. Nevertheless, Redang is a beautiful place with pristine beaches and clear blue water. You will sure like it!
